BRAVA Creative is pretty lucky – and by default, so is everyone in San Diego and Los Angeles. We got to manage his book tour and you’ll get to meet him! As an author, journalist and former White House Correspondent, John has stories to tell.

John DeDakis (pronounced Deh-DAY-kiss) is a former editor on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.” DeDakis, the author of three mystery-suspense novels, is a manuscript editor, writing workshop leader, and public speaker. During his nearly 45-year, award-winning career in journalism (25 years at CNN), DeDakis was a White House Correspondent and interviewed such luminaries as Alfred Hitchcock, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan. He lives in Washington, D.C. and teaches journalism at The University of Maryland – College Park.

SAN DIEGO, CA October 30, 2011  CNN Hero Doc Hendley was guest of honor at the October 15 fundraiser, An Evening To Benefit Wine to Water. Hosted by Brava Creative, the event drew a crowd of over 400 people and raised $6,000 for Hendley’s nonprofit organization.

Every year, more than 2 million people die from diseases associated with lack of access to clean water and inadequate sanitation. Wine to Water provides clean water systems to the needy in developing countries around the world.

Proceeds from the San Diego event will fund projects in Ethiopia – one of the drought-stricken regions in the Horn of Africa. Relief efforts by Wine to Water include drilling deep borehole wells to provide a permanent source of clean water for approximately 500 people.

“I wanted to increase awareness of Wine to Water here in San Diego and inspire evangelists for the cause,” said Lisa Strickland, founder and creative director at Brava Creative. “Having Doc at the event helped tremendously. People were touched by his sincerity, thrilled to meet him and motivated to get involved.”

SAN DIEGO, CA — On Saturday, October 15, 2011 BRAVA Creative will host a fundraiser to benefit Wine to Water – a 501(c) (3) non-profit aid organization that provides clean water and sustainable water systems to needy people around the world.

The event – An Evening To Benefit Wine Water – features wine tastings, passed hors d’oeuvres, opportunity drawings, and more. Expected turnout? About 200 guests – all of whom will have the chance to rub shoulders with 3 guests of honor:

Doc Hendley – Founder and President of Wine to Water and a Top Ten CNN Hero for 2009. He will be at the event to tell his story and explain how charitable donations fund projects in countries like Uganda, Haiti, Cambodia and elsewhere.

Jay Kopelman – Author/Lieutenant Colonel, US Marine Corps. Bestselling author, From Baghdad, With Love: A Marine, the War, and a Dog named Lava. National and local news military analyst and commentator.

Chef Jeff – Caterer and Personal Chef; Founder at Taste Culinary. Chef Jeff’s clientele consists of individuals, business executives, and corporations, including Harpo Studios, O Magazine, Trump Chicago and Microsoft.
